Depressing Singaporean

What a depressing year to be a Singaporean ... we became "dogs" in PRC eyes, and then we became "rotten" in Filipino eyes too ... our ministers slept around ... our officials gave out contracts for sex ... our NUS students proved what nymphomaniacs they are ... even the lecturers gave grades for sex ... our tertiary students f**ked our DPM for being asked "What do you think?" ... our country slipped into recession but we chose to live in denial ... our inflation rate became the highest in the world ... our boys died in service for our country (while training) ... we became the richest country in the world that underpays its PRC bus drivers and crane operators ... our casinos became the most profitable gaming centers in the world (*sigh*) ... our oldest food caterer went bust ... we sucked at table tennis again ... property and car prices hit record highs ... a bowl of Red Rubies is now the same price as a bowl of fish ball noodles two years ago ... some more people picked Bedok Reservoir as their departure lounge ... our teenagers became more disrespectful, publicly and vulgarly cursing their parents for the mobile phone issues ... a dolphin died in the name of human entertainment ...


But we did get some good news ... we won at the Paralympian Games (props to Laurentia!!) ... they didn't raise the tax on tobacco ... we're in the finals of the Suzuki Cup ... we kept our AAA/A+ investment rating (duh) ...

Did someone wish me a Happy New Year in January of 2012? Well, that was a waste of time.

Hello everyone....

Its been almost half year since I last post something in Multiply. For the last few months, I was busy migrating all my blogs and some photos to my blogspot after the annoucement that Multiply will close. I thought it had closed its door on 1-Dec, but today 16-Dec, I can still see my site and surprisingly I can still post this blog. Hmmm...maybe nobody can see this entry except myself. Nevermind, I'll wait for comments. If I didnt receive any, then my prediction is confirmed. Hahahaha ....
Here are the summaries of what happen in my life during the last 6 months :

June-10 2012 : Tini's wedding. She's one of my favourite niece & Im very happy for her.

June-11 to June-23 : Family trip to Sydney & Melbourne with my brothers family. We had so much fun travelling together especially with the lil rascal, Sofia.

 

07-July 2013 : Khenduri arwah cum Abg Ali's birthday at our home.

19-August 2012 : Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

 

 

 

25-Sep 2012 : My grandniece, Sofia's 1st birthday.

07-Sep 2012 : Sarah's 3 weeks study trip to California, USA.

10-Oct 2012 : Sarah's 18th birthday

23-11 2012 : Fahmi's 24th birthday

02-Dec 2012 : The saddest day of my life... our grand nephew was only 21 years old when he left us on that fateful Sunday afternoon. Inalilahi wainalilahi rojiun.... moga roh Allahhyarham Muhammad Iswat bin Affindi di cucuri rahmat... Al -fateha.

That's all folk.... I hope its not too early to wish you a very happy new year. May 2013 brings more happiness to you & your beloved family.

May ALLAH make our year a happy one...

Sew pretty

There’s lot of sewing and making in the household lately. I’m trying to sew as much as I can before June comes. Looking at the calendar, I only have less than 3 weeks. Oh dear… I’ve to clear the guest room for a make-over by end of this month. InsyaAllah.

But Alhamdulillah, last week I’ve managed to doll-up all the tea towels & face towels which I bought last month. One project down….

These are some of them. Aren’t they pretty….

Thrift store chair rescue

Sometime last month, my bestie, Yati accompanied me to pick up this chair for a very small amount at one thrift store in Simei. Unfortunately it doesn't fit into her car. Ruth, the store manager felt very guilty about it becoz she's the one who convinced me that it can fit into a sedan.

As a compensation, she promised to deliver the chair to my house whenever they have delivery in the West. Its fine with me Ruth, anytime you are heading West, please dont forget to lug the chair into your van.

So, finally, it arrived on the afternoon of 19-April. The same evening, I got down into business sanding it. I used 100 grit sandpaper to rough up the semi-shiny finish until I got down to the bare wood. Since the chair was quite old, I was able to get down to the bare wood with some gentle sanding.

After few evenings of sanding, then I applied two/three thin, coats of white enamel matt finish paint. However, Mr Hub is not satisfied with the finishing, saying that its not so even. Haiz.... So, on his off day last weekend, he refinished the chair by spray painted over it.
As for the cushion, I've sewn a new cover using a red/white stripe Japanese heavy cotton.
And the result is simply ..... stunning. Im loving it!

The cat is out of the bag?....

It hurts and can be painful to learn the true colours of people you look up to, but it is indeed a good lesson for you to know now....

And now that the cat is out of the bag, there is no sense in pretending we don't know what's really happening....

Bapak - Draft

Aku terkenang kan arwah bapak. Entah kenapa aku asyik terbayang kan wajah arwah seminggu dua ni..dah ku kirim kan AlFatihah dan Yassin kepada beliau. Tapi aku masih terpandang pandang kan wajah nya....

Semalam aku keluarkan barang2 milik beliau yang aku bungkus dan simpan dibawah katil. Hati ni terasa rindu sekali ... aku mengharap rinduku boleh terubat bila menyentuh barang2 tu, tapi malangnya, aku terlalu sebak dan terus menangis seorang diri di bilik arwah dulu. "Pak.... orang selalu teringatkan bapak, orang sedih pak" ... :(

Aku lihat banyak buku-buku nota yang bapak simpan. Ku tahu beliau memang suka menulis. Beliau akan mancatit apa saja yang berlaku pada waktu hidup nya dulu, tak kira apa-apa lah. Salah satu buku tu, aku lihat ada guest list untuk perkahwinan abang sulung ku. Abang Aim bersanding pada April 1974. Bapak tulis nama-nama orang yang akan dijemput. Bukan itu saja, beliau juga catit perbelanja'an majlis persandingan tu. Harga beras, harga daging, harga kendarat & hadrah dan banyak lagi lah.

Bapak pergi pada 28 August 2006. Sepuluh bulan setelah emak pergi.

Hari ni, kampung laman FB tak berapa ceria. Terlalu banyak cemuhan, kutukan dan kata-kata nista yang dilemparkan kepada seorang hamba Allah ni. Kata-kata keji ini berlarutan hingga tak terkawal kerana ramai yang masuk gelanggang, seolah olah macam sedap gitu bermaki-makian. Aku rasa tak semua pencemuh tu kenal siapa hamba Allah yang malang ni, tetapi mereka sengaja nak menyimbah minyak di api yang sedang membara. Walaupun hamba Allah ini bersalah, janganlah bermaki hamun sedemikian rupa. Kata-kata kesat yang dilemparkan pada beliau adalah tidak adil. It's too much... :(( Kasihani lah dier....

Tadi selepas solat asar, aku panjatkan doa untuk hamba Allah ini, semoga dia sabar dan tenang dengan cemuhan yang datang bertubi tubi ni. Dan tak lupa juga pada semua 'pencemuh' dan 'pemaki', agar cepat sedar dan kesal atas kebiadapan mereka. Dear friend, you are not getting younger, and to showcase your anger publicly is not cool at all.

Yang menyedihkan.... both are my friends, 'Pencemuh" dan "Yang dicemuh".
