A true collector

I was stunned and dumbfounded to see a huge collection of bone china and wall clocks at a friend's house on last Monday evening.  His collection truly amazed me.  The minute I step in, I was like being glued on the spot, can't bear to make another step until I finished making a slow 360 degree turn to marvel everything there.  Further inside, are more treasures ... every inch of space is filled with stuff which is hardly found here.  Literally, there are thousand pieces of china ware.  All kind of brands.  You name it, Paragon, Doulton, Aynsley, Royal Albert, Spode, Wedgewood .... the list goes on and on.  I just couldn't believe what I saw.  To own  a set of fine china is like a dream come true for me.  But here I am, looking at hundreds of set is just unbelievable.  The amount of money and time hunting for all these is really incredible.  He must be spending a bomb!

There are two wall clocks in the living room that caught my attention.  It's from a reputable European clock maker.  He said that he has more of this clock in the room. "What! you have more?". True enough, in his room he has more, not one, not two but eleven more.  Yes! eleven high quality European pendulum clocks hanging on the bedroom wall.  I guess I have to learn some technique of "flattery talk" now, so that I can use it on him.  "Please ... please ... my dear friend, can I have one of those?  Any design is fine with me, just sell me one".  But knowing him, I think my mission will be easily accomplished without much problem as he is one nice guy.  Insya Allah.

At home, lying on the bed and recalling all those treasures .... making me hard to sleep.  I just couldn't close my eyes... The beautiful china, the clocks, the shabby stuff, the lamps ... keep popping before me.  And I know, I will have difficult time focusing my work at office for the next few days or maybe weeks.

Undeniably, he is a true collector.  I salute you, my friend.
